Digital restoration of historic monuments
Accurate 3D models of historic buildings and monuments from laser scanning and photogrammetry, digital reconstruction of lost parts and restoration documents.

Historic monuments change over time through natural weathering and human activity, and sometimes parts are lost entirely. Digital restoration records the current state of a monument with millimetre accuracy and rebuilds lost elements in a 3D model based on archive documents, old photographs and analogues. This approach allows different restoration options to be compared safely before any physical intervention.
Work begins with terrestrial laser scanning and high-quality photogrammetry: the geometry of surfaces, masonry, ornaments, inscriptions and colour are captured as a textured model. Specialists then use historical sources to model collapsed arches, domes, wall sections and decorative elements, and the existing and reconstructed parts are shown separately in the model.
Deliverables can include measured drawings for the restoration project, documentation of deformation and cracks, an interactive model for museum and tourism use, and files for 3D printing. We carry out this service together with restorers and the relevant authorities for the rich architectural heritage of Azerbaijan, including fortresses, mosques, caravanserais, bathhouses and ancient settlements.
