Drone aerial survey

Orthophoto map production

Production of georeferenced, measurable orthophoto maps from drone imagery: 1–5 cm pixel size, GeoTIFF format, ready for AutoCAD and GIS software.

Orthophoto map production

An orthophoto map is an aerial image corrected for perspective distortion and terrain relief so that it has a uniform scale. Unlike an ordinary aerial photo, distances, areas and coordinates can be measured on it directly. It is therefore widely used as a visual base for design, for analysing land plot boundaries, updating GIS maps and showing a client the real condition of a site.

Orthophoto accuracy depends on flight height, image overlap and the quality of ground control. We plan flights with 70–80% forward and side overlap, measure ground control points with GNSS RTK and run aerial triangulation in photogrammetric software. The images are then rectified using a digital surface model, the mosaic is colour-balanced, and seamlines are edited so they do not cross buildings or roads.

The result is delivered as GeoTIFF in the national coordinate system or WGS-84/UTM 39N, split into tiles for large areas. The orthophoto opens directly in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, QGIS, ArcGIS and other software. An accuracy report on check points shows clearly which tasks the orthophoto is suitable for.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does an orthophoto differ from a satellite image?

A drone orthophoto has a pixel size of a few centimetres, while satellite images usually have tens of centimetres or more. A drone orthophoto is also captured on a specific date and accurately tied to GNSS RTK ground control.

Does an orthophoto replace a topographic plan?

No. An orthophoto is a visual base, while a topographic plan shows vector features, relief and utilities. If needed, we also prepare a topographic plan from the orthophoto.

What does the price depend on?

On the area, the required pixel size and the flight permit conditions. Call us for details.
