Deformation monitoring
Periodic geodetic observation of horizontal and vertical movement of excavation walls, adjacent buildings, retaining walls and unstable slopes.

Deformation monitoring is a systematic series of geodetic observations that tracks how structures and the surrounding ground move over time. The goal is not only to measure settlement but also horizontal displacement, tilt and the rate of movement, so that a dangerous trend is detected before any damage occurs.
In the dense neighbourhoods of Baku, deep basement excavations put adjacent buildings and the shored excavation walls at greatest risk. Monitoring is also required for retaining walls, slopes and landslide zones, construction near metro lines and tunnels, and structures under heavy dynamic loads. The data lets designers adjust support measures in time and gives the client objective evidence in case of a dispute.
Prisms or reflective targets are fixed to the monitored points and measured from control points in a stable zone with SOUTH total stations (1"–2"); elevations are refined by digital levelling. For each cycle we calculate 3D displacement vectors and compare them with the alert and limit values set in the design.
If values approach a threshold, the client is informed at once and the frequency of measurements is increased.
