Geometric inspection and CAD comparison
Comparing 3D scans of manufactured parts, assemblies and structures with the CAD model: colour deviation map, critical dimensions and inspection report.

Geometric inspection checks how closely a manufactured item matches its design. Conventional measuring tools check individual points and dimensions, while a 3D scan captures the entire surface and allows it to be compared with the CAD model. As a result, not only the dimensions on the drawing but every deviation in form — bending, twisting, shrinkage and displacement — is revealed.
Topoqraf AZ scans the part or structure with a scanner suited to its size and aligns the scan with the CAD model using datum features or best-fit alignment. The result is a colour map showing the deviation at every point. In addition, section comparisons, hole positions, diameters, flatness and other critical parameters are measured separately and compared with the tolerances.
The results are presented in a clear inspection report showing which areas are within tolerance, which are out of tolerance and by how much. The service is used for first article inspection, incoming inspection of supplier products, assessing deformation after welding and assembly, and fine-tuning production processes.
