Pile layout setting-out
Staking the centre of every pile from design coordinates, as-built survey of installed piles and a deviation schedule for the structural engineer.

Pile layout setting-out means marking on the ground the positions of the piles that carry a foundation on weak soils or under heavy loads. A pile field can contain dozens or even hundreds of piles, each with precise design coordinates. The surveyor sets out every point and marks it with a steel pin or timber peg so the piling rig starts exactly in the right place.
Along the Baku coastline and on sandy, water-saturated soils, high-rise buildings, bridge piers, industrial structures and tanks are frequently founded on piles. A pile installed off its design position changes the load it carries and may require the pile cap to be redesigned or even additional piles to be installed. That is why both the setting-out and the subsequent as-built survey matter.
Points are set out with a SOUTH total station or GNSS RTK from control points established around the site. Because heavy machinery often disturbs the marks, it is more efficient to work in stages that follow the progress of the piling rig. Once piles are installed, the actual centre and head level of each one is measured.
The deviation schedule is passed to the structural engineer for pile cap checks.
