Topographic survey for power lines
Topographic survey for cable and overhead power lines and substations: pole positions, conductor heights, crossings and route profiles.
Licensed service · EL-845/2026
Whether it is a new house connected to the 0.4 kV grid or a 6–10 kV or higher-voltage line, an electrical supply design needs an accurate topographic plan of the route. The plan defines where cables or poles go, the required clearances to other networks and buildings, and all road and utility crossings.
For cable lines the survey focuses on locating other buried networks: existing power and telecom cables, gas, water and sewer pipes are traced with a locator and their depths plotted. For overhead lines we measure the coordinates and heights of existing poles, the lowest conductor clearance above ground, crossings with roads, railways, rivers and other lines, and buildings and trees along the route.
Within urban areas and for short connections the plan is drawn at 1:500. For long overhead routes we carry out a 1:1000–1:2000 strip survey and prepare a longitudinal profile for sag calculations. Inaccessible conductor and pole points are measured remotely with a reflectorless total station, so nobody has to approach live equipment.
Substation and switchgear sites receive a separate detailed survey. All work complies with the applicable codes (AzDTN/SNiP).
